Musi-Cool Hydrocarbon Gas

MUSICOOL is a hydrocarbon product produced by PT. Pertamina and was named after its place of origin, the Refinery Unit III Plaju-Palembang, South Sumatera which is located by MUSI River. It can be used in car’s AC, split/window, refrigeration, water dispenser, cold storage, and chiller (at offices, malls, and hotels).

MUSICOOL Refrigerant is very economical, environmentally friendly, non toxic and can save up to 30% of the electricity bill. It is not an Ozone Depleting Substance (ODS) and does not contribute to the global warming. This type of refrigerant is commonly used in developed countries like Europe, America, Canada, Australia, and Japan. Used nation wide, there will be great energy saving, both from fuel and electrical consumption by industries.

Musicool met technical requirement as refrigerant take account of physics and thermodynamics aspects, pressure diagram vs. temperature as well as performance test on refrigeration cycle. The test indicates that with the same cooling load, Musicool has some advantages against synthetic refrigerant, some parameters shows smaller data indication such as density, condensation pressure ratio against evaporation and viscosity value, while other parameters such as refrigeration effect, COP, latent calorie and conductivity show larger data.

Our company distribute, market and install MUSICOOL Refrigerant which is a Hydro Carbon (HC) refrigerant to replace the Fluoro Carbon type (CFC, HCFC, HFC) which have been banned by Vienna Convention and Montreal Protocol 1987 and prohibited by the Indonesian Government with final dateline for trading and usage by 1-Jan-2005.

PT. Benderamas Tirta is the authorized distributor of Hydro Carbon Refrigerant with brand name of MUSICOOL (a Pertamina Product).

The advantages for using MUSICOOL Refrigerant

  • MUSICOOL Refrigerant is very economical and can save up to 30% of the electricity bill
  • MUSICOOL Refrigerant reduces the workload of the compressor and extends the life of the air conditioner and the chiller
  • No need to modify the air conditioning machine
  • Non toxic, safe, non-ozone depleting substance (ODS) and does not contribute to the global warming
  • Comply to the International Standard of Quality for export

Products Information

Safe Usage Data

A. Protection Equipment Types

  • Eye Protection: Chemical type goggles or face shield when handling the product in liquid form.
  • Skin Protection: Wear safety boots or shoes when handling cylinders, wear protective overalls with long sleeves to cover exposed skin and wash hands after use.
  • Respiratory Protection: Approved respiratory protective equipment must be used for open large volumes.

B. Ventilation

  • Use in well ventilated area with local exhaust ventilation to control exposure of the product to below concentration limit if leak occurred
  • Ventilation rate at least 0.3 m/s, Use away from all ignition sources.

C. Handling and Storage

  • Cylinders must stand in vertical position
  • MUSICOOL is a flammable material and requires special handling during transportation
  • MUSICOOL must be stored in purpose design mild steel cylinder(s) and should be located in dry, cool (temperature not exceed 40OC), away from direct sunlight and sources of ignition
  • Cylinder(s) must be always in closed and vertical position if not in used
  • Pipe work and handling equipment which used for transportation and storage should be design for the purpose and be electrically bonded and grounded to prevent accumulation of static charge.

D. Labelling

  • Cylinder(s) have to be labelled as Flammable materials

Emergency Response Data

  • Extinguishing Media: Use carbon dioxide, foam and dry chemical to fight fire.
  • Special Procedures: Evacuate from the fire area and if big fire occurred call the tire brigade. Small fire can be handled with dry powder fire extinguishers. If it is safe to do so, close the container valve. Move container away or cool with water spray from a protected position. Keep cylinder(s) cool with water spray. Beware of vapor accumulating to form fire. A Water spray may be used for vapor dispersal.

Health Hazard Data

A. Health Hazard

  • Inhaled: At extreme exposure may cause headaches or dizziness.
  • Asphyxiant: Causes unconsciousness and respiratory arrest at elevated exposures.
  • Eyes: Irritating if the liquid gets into the eyes, with a possible hazard from freezing due to rapid evaporation.
  • Skin: Excessive prolonged contact to the liquid can cause skin irritation and frostbite due to rapid evaporation.
  • Swallowed: Unlikely to be a problem following to high evaporation rate.
  • Chronic: No effects reported from long term industrial exposure to this product.

B. First Aid

  • Inhaled: Avoid breathing vapor as much as possible. See medical advice promptly in serious cases of over exposure.
  • Eye: Avoid contact with the product. Remove any contact lenses carefully. Hold eyelids open and flush eyes with tepid water for 15 minutes. Seek medical advice immediately for all eye contact.
  • Skin: Avoid skin contact with the liquid. Remove contaminated clothing and wash the exposed area with plenty of water. Seek medical advice if frostbite (see below) occurs. Swallowed: Unlikely to be a problem owing to high evaporation rate.
  • Frostbite: Obtain medical assistance. If medical advice is not available immediately, place casually in a warm area as soon as possible and allow the injured area to warm gradually (further damage may occur if the area of injury warms too rapidly). DO NOT EXPOSE THE INJURED AREA TO EXCESS HEAT OR COLD (such as head lamps, hot water snow or ice). Gently cover or drape the injured area with clean material such as dressing or sheet. To relieve pain, immerse the injured area in water which is near or at body temperature (35 40 *C) If possible get the casualty to exercise the injured area gradually. Give them something warm drink, BUT NO ALCOHOL. Seek medical advice as soon as possible.

C. Advice To Doctor

  • No specific treatment recommended. Treat symptomatically. Show a copy of this material safety data sheet to medical personnel dealing with cases of extreme over exposure.
